Our Leadership

For over 7 years, Chase Umsted, co-owner of Lonestar Fire Protection, has been the UA Local 669 Instructor for the Austin/San Antonio area. Being at the forefront of the fire protection industry’s advancements and NFPA codes. Chase was also Superintendent, managing 45+ field personnel as well as head of safety for a large company in the Austin area. Our field leadership are certified, educated, and experienced in many different fire safety and training areas.

Chase Umsted

Project management & Sales / Operations Management

Starting in the field in early 2007, Chase moved into management in 2018. Overseeing large complex project and managing manpower until Opening Lonestar Fire Protection with Jacob in 2022. Chase is currently and has been the UA Local 669 JATC Instructor for the Austin Area since March 2019. Every month Local 669 apprentices are required to attend class to meet the requirements of the Local 669 apprenticeship program. A prestigious position within the UA Local.

Since starting the company, we have completed over 8 million dollars of work. All types of work from Bell County loop jail expansion, multiple schools currently working on 2 high schools, rocket propellant manufacturing, shell buildings, mental health facility, and a 10-building wellness resort with DPR construction in Spicewood Tx.

Outside of the Office Chase enjoys spending time with his wife and kids Traveling, Bar-b-queuing, and spending time with the family at the ranch.

Jacob Mitchell

Project Management / Managing Member / Head of Safety

Since starting as a UA Local 669 apprentice in 2006, Jacob has worked on numerous projects. Throughout the years Jacob moved into leadership and management roles before starting LFP in March of 2022. Since the start of Lonestar Fire Protection, Jake has sold and managed various T/I projects at The University of Texas Austin with QA construction and managed design build projects like Liberty Hill Middle School 3 with Bartlett Cocke.

Outside of the office Jacob enjoys the Austin comedy scene, traveling and hiking.

Patricia Umsted

Office Manager

Patricia has been in the AP/AR for 8 years, starting with Dell, then moving onto Blackbox, she has been a natural fit with Lonestar Fire Protection. Patricia facilitates the majority of our AP/AR record keeping and payroll, to mention a few things. She is the watchful eye to be sure our recordkeeping, work orders, and invoices are correct and structured.

Away from work Patricia is the chaos coordinator for her 3 boys and enjoys sporting events, traveling, and the outdoors.

Matthew Homesley

Service & Inspections Manager

Matthew started in the industry in 2010 as an apprentice. In 2015 he became a service foreman, gaining knowledge on troubleshooting and repairing existing fire sprinkler systems. He was promoted to service sales and project management in 2024. Matthew has been a great addition to our team handling all day-to-day service and inspection work, T/I sales.

Out of the office Matthew enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family.

Nelson Lewis

Project management & Sales

Originally from South Carolina, Nelson and his family have called Texas their home since 2011. Nelson’s career began in 2003 after graduating high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving four years working the flight line and performing aircraft maintenance on the C-130’s guidance and control systems.

Throughout his career, Nelson has developed a sense of pride in his attention to detail, integrity, and communication skills keeping general contractors and customers up to speed with processes, procedures, and next steps. Nelson’s daily tasks entail working with contractors, customers, project managers, and the administrative team to ensure a streamlined process, meanwhile, putting workflows and procedures in place to maintain budgets, efficiency and schedules.

When taking time off, Nelson enjoys traveling to National Parks with his family and coaching his children’s youth sports.
